《新征程大学英语通用阅读教程》立足课程思政，弘扬中华传统文化，是一套符合时代需求的新型教材。主要特色有：
     1. 以2020年10月18日发布的《大学英语教学指南》为依据，内容设置上增加课程思政、弘扬中华传统文化和社会主义价值观的比重。
    2. 参考《中国英语能力等级量表》给出的各项能力标准，降低教材难度，贴近学生实际水平。聚焦四六级考试，重现重点题型，精讲难点易错点，提升应试素养。
    3. 站在学生角度，选择符合现代社会的、学生用得上的内容，主题与素材符合新时代打学生的认知和兴趣。1-4册由浅入深，篇章字数逐渐增加。
    4. 每章节设置一个主题，围绕此主题，从课程思政、中华传统文化、跨文化交流、世界科技新进展、歌曲电影TED多个方面进行学习，讲好中国故事，把中国智慧、中国文化介绍给世界。培养学生辨证思维、多文化思维、包容并立思维。
    5.立足阅读，课内课外相结合，夯实语法知识、提升阅读技巧。
